Joan Tunnard, DVM, MPH

Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian

Dr. Joan is originally from Columbus, NE. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has spent most of the last 15 years in Las Vegas practicing small animal medicine. Two years ago, she felt a calling to focus on end-of-life care for pets and became a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian through the IAAHPC in 2022. She is excited to be back home in Nebraska and to serve pets in the Omaha and Lincoln metro areas. She is joined by her husband, three children, dogs (Beignet and Rex), and cats (Sparky and Cookie).

Jaclyn Nelson, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Jaclyn was born in Omaha, Nebraska and spent half of her childhood there before moving to Illinois. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and then attended the University of Illinois for veterinary school. She has one dog and would like to add a kitten soon! Her interests outside of veterinary medicine include playing and watching sports, cheering on the Huskers, hanging out with friends and family, and spending time on the lake or in the ocean.

Kate Hackbart, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Kate is originally from Southern Illinois and completed her undergraduate studies at Kansas State University before earning her degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. With over 10 years of experience in small animal care in the Lincoln area, she has built a strong connection to end-of-life services and is passionate about providing compassionate care.

Dr. Kate and her family live on a farm where they raise cattle. She shares her home with her husband, two children, two dogs, and three cats. Outside her veterinary practice, Dr. Kate enjoys spending quality time with her family, supporting her children’s activities, reading, and being outdoors.
